Has anyone travelled to Macao? What's the overall experience and the cost?

Main Post:

Is it worth visiting Macao. There are easy flights available from Thailand to Macao.

Top Comment: I used to travel to Macao often, but that was when I was in Southern China. It's a fusion restaurants surrounded by casinos with terrible odds. Some of the casinos are old school gangster casinos where street toughs in bulky leather jackets offer you shady business cards for private games. Macau's more of a relief for mainland Chinese to shop at real markets. It's cheap enough to fly from Don Meung to Macau, but if you have a little extra time, it's cheaper to fly to Hong Kong, then take the bus 45 minutes to Macau across the bridge. Macau is nice for a day trip. But if you're in the region, consider going to Guilin instead.

Future of Macau

Main Post:

What do Residents of Macau think regarding the future of Macau? Many places now are turning to poop with the economy. Macau has a strong tourist and casino income for the government and seems to be doing quite well. Any idea what Macau will look like in the future? I am not in Macau but potentially considering moving to Macau...

Top Comment: More and more people from mainland China are coming to settle here, and with this, the quality and public morality of the people have declined, and Macao's unique local culture is gradually being disappearing.

First time going to Macau

Main Post:

Hi, it's my first time going to Macau and Hong Kong for the first time in my entire life. And I was wondering how is the people like there? Are they nice? Can any of y'all tell me 😭

P.s. Please dont this post wrong, I'm not trying to be racist here, just curious about what the people are like in Macau and Hong Kong

Top Comment: I think the general felling is that Macau is more welcoming than HK, probably just because its way more geared to tourism than Hong Kong, in the sense that it’s way more dependent from it. But further from that, and assuming your non Chinese, since your posting here, language is a bigger barrier in Macau than HK, in Macau even service staff struggle with basic English, but in the main resorts and places it should be no problem

What are the cultural differences between Hong Kong and Macau?

Main Post: What are the cultural differences between Hong Kong and Macau?

Top Comment: They’re quite similar,I’ve lived in both of these two places for years ,they’re all different from China.people from these two places share similar dressing styles, you can tell who’s Chinese people or who’s HK/Macau people from his/her dress style right away when you see the person, Chinese women like to wear heavy makeup and more revealing clothes, while girls from Hong Kong and Macao prefer the style like Japanese girls, light makeup and with sparse bangs in their hair. but I would say Macau’s culture is more influenced by China’s culture, and the majority of Macauese people have ancestries from China and they like using China’s app like douyin,WeChat or littleredbook(小紅書)in practice.many of those Macau people would consider themselves as Chinese people but HKers not,and yeah ,Macau people speak Mandarin(China’s official language) better than HK people , u can see a lot of China stuffs in Macau streets such as simplified Chinese characters, even their bus or Casinos are all made by Chinese people, I would simply say Macau is a mini version of HK but which is deeply influenced by China culture It’s worth mentioning that most of Daily necessities in Macau groceries are imported from Hong Kong but not China,Macau people watch Hong Kong TV shows in daily life ,but their natural resources like Water and electricity imported from China.
